The Industrial Revolution

Many important inventions that shape the way we live now were created in the Industrial revolution. The first inventions to improve our life were the inventions made in agriculture. It helped to produce more food. Surpluses of food made the population increase and the people that were not needed to grow food could work in the cities. The cities produced the new technology that made clothing and life easier. Coal was used in steam engines that transported the goods that were made. (Esler) Iron made it possible to build stronger machines and engines. People of many ages worked hours ranging from twelve to sixteen. (Esler) Some people worked in mines, others worked in factories. Few people worked on farms. The working conditions were always poor with low wages.
